The Office of the Registrar at the University of Ghana (UG), Legon, has debunked authoring a statement in circulation on social media that puts the graduate degree of Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), into question.
An official at the Office of the Registrar who spoke on anonymity revealed that the statement was not authored by the premier university.
The said letter in circulation titled "RE: REQUEST FOR VERIFICATION OF DEGREE - MALIK BASINTALE", indicated that although Mr Basintale was admitted at the school in 2014, there are no official records to prove he graduated.
"However, Mr. Basintale has not fulfilled all academic requirements necessary for graduation and, as such, has not been officially awarded a degree by the University of Ghana."
"We hope this clarification is helpful for your due diligence processes. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information or assistance," a part of the statement in circulation read.
This letter has left the X platform in a frenzy, with many seeking verification and clarification.
A journalist quizzed Mr Basintale over the matter, but he did not directly answer the question.
The official at the Office of the Registrar noted that management is working to react and debunk the statement in circulation officially in the hours to come.
