Self-styled king, Atehene, of the Kingdom of Kubala, a group identifying as an African tribe, sent an email inviting Guinness World Record singathon contender Afua Asantewaa, the journalist has confirmed.
Sharing the details of the email in a post shared on her official X (formerly) on Thursday, October 2, Afua said, the Atehene showered praises on her, calling her a queen and theneed to be treated as one, hence he extended an invitation to her to join their Scotland-based kingdom.
She made the post in the morning shortly before news broke of King Atehene’s arrest and removal from a forest in Scotland.
A major highlight she shared from the mail was the ‘king’s’ advice to her to continue listening to Woyaya by Osibisa, which she mentioned was actually hr favourite song.
“I got an email from the Kubala family, I think some months ago, if not a year, and I remember vividly that the Kubala king told me that I am a queen and I deserve to be in the Kubala kingdom. He actually said nice things to me, and one of the key things he told me was to keep singing and listening to Woyaya by Osibisa. You all know it’s my favourite,” she said.
According to her, she had heard no news about this self-acclaimed king and his kingdom until they began to make headlines in recent reportage globallyShe ridiculed how and where she would have been if she had paid a good attention to the mail from the embattled king.
“So recently I’ve been seeing videos of… I actually didn’t know who or like what group of people the Kubala whatever was, and so recently I saw some videos that they are being evacuated, supposed kingdom, and it amazes me,” she explained.
Afua also noted that the email was lengthy and detailed, adding that it left her wondering whether other people also received similar invitations.
“I don’t know if they send emails to other people, but it’s quite sad, and reading more about the kingdom I just imagine myself in such a situation because one of the queens I’m told was living a normal life until she got to the kingdom. You know, so I would have been called a full Kubala.
“I wish I could share the email with you guys. It was very detailed and interesting to read. That’s just by the way, things we receive in our DMs from strange places only God can help us. If you are not guided and if your instinct is not that strong, you end up in the Kubala kingdom,” she said.
About the Kubala kingdom and its members
News emerged about this group of people led by a former copera singer, Kofi Offeh (who calls himself King Atehene). Kofi Offeh was initially known in Ghana as a musician who gained popularity in the UK after moving there to pursue a career in entertainment around 2010-2015.
He performed at a forum on the UK Parliamentary estate, singing both the Ghanaian and British national anthems with both politicians, nobles and London mayoral candidates in attendance. He became involved in various entertainment and property ventures in the UK, some of which were later dissolved. He also ran a networking agency called Black British Entertainment and used the stage name “Nino”.
His wife, Jean Gasho (Queen Nandi), along with a young American woman, Kaura Taylor (Asnat), who lived in a forest near Jedburgh, Scotland, claimed to reclaim ancestral land. The group was evicted and arrested in October 2025.
Kofi Offeh (King Atehene) and his group moved to the Scottish forests near Jedburgh in the spring of 2025, around May, with the justification that they were reclaiming the land stolen from their ancestors 400 years ago.
After ignoring several notices of eviction, videos shared online showed police and immigration officials dismantling their camp while some of the group’s members were taken away on October 2.
Jean Gasho’s who poses as the wife of the Kubala king is also a former opera singer and blogger who openly discussed their polyamorous marriage, referring to other women in their circle as “wives” with a Kaura Taylor, a 21 year old who was reported, missing during the post COVID era by Dallas, Texas, police poses as a haidmaiden identified as Asnat in the kingdom.
In a video which was posted by the Kubala Kingdom in June 2025, Kaura Taylor said: “I fled willingly from a toxic lifestyle… I am not missing. Leave me alone. I am an adult, I am not a helpless child.”
