Firefighters are still battling a raging inferno at Kantamanto Market in Accra’s Central Business District, hours after the blaze broke out late last night.
The fire has already destroyed numerous shops and stalls, displacing hundreds of traders and leaving a trail of extensive property damage.
Fire crews from across the Greater Accra Region have been deployed to contain the flames, which continue to spread despite their relentless efforts.
Eyewitnesses describe a chaotic scene, with traders scrambling to salvage what they could as the fire consumed large portions of the market.
Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the fire, and as of Thursday morning, the fire is yet to be doused completely.
