Antoine Semenyo has equaled Michael Essien’s total number of Premier League goals after scoring the winner in Bournemouth’s 1-0 triumph over Fulham on Saturday.
The Ghanaian striker found the net just 53 seconds into the match at the Vitality Stadium, breaking Bournemouth’s six-game winless run with a powerful low shot.
This goal was Semenyo’s eighth of the season — his best performance in a single Premier League campaign — and his 17th overall in the competition since he joined from Bristol City.
With this latest strike, the 25-year-old now shares fifth place with Chelsea legend Michael Essien on the list of Ghana’s top scorers in Premier League history.
He is now only behind Andre Ayew (21 goals), Jeffrey Schlupp (22), Tony Yeboah (24), and Jordan Ayew (41).
Bournemouth’s win moves them up to eighth in the standings, just six points behind seventh-placed Aston Villa, keeping their chances of a strong finish to the season alive.
Semenyo will look to continue his impressive form when Bournemouth visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park next Saturday.
